The Division of Sidewalk & Inspection Managements Citywide Concrete Unit supports the agencys goal to enhance, rehabilitate, and maintain the Citys infrastructure by acting as the agencys primary construction unit. We employ dedicated engineers, managers, support staff, laborers and adopt cost-savings and efficiency, while maintaining the highest standards of excellence and service to safety and quality. Under direction of the Supervisor Bricklayer, the selected candidate will work as part of a crew performing the following tasks: laying brick and masonry on given structures; does fireproofing, block arching, terra cotta cutting and setting constructs brick masonry for sewers and manholes; lays cobblestone; sets granite curb; lays pavers; reads and follows plans and specifications; keeps jobs and other records; may supervise assigned personnel. Additionally, the candidate may be assigned additional duties in line with their title.
Requirements
Education and Experience Requirements: By the last day of the Application Period you must have: 1. Five years of full-time satisfactory experience as a Bricklayer; or 2. At least three years of experience as described in 1" above and sufficient bricklayer apprentice experience or training in the bricklaying field acquired in an approved trade, technical or vocational high school to make up the equivalent of the remaining required experience. Six months of acceptable experience will be credited for each year of the above experience or training. Experienced (non-manager)
